Martand Sun Temple

The ruins of an 8th-century temple to the sun god Surya, set on a plateau in the Anantnag district of Kashmir. Built by the Karkota dynasty and destroyed in the early 15th century on the orders of Sultan Sikandar Shah Miri, its roofless colonnade and central shrine still command sweeping views over the valley.
